Founded in Germany in 2017 and having later expanded to the UK market, heycar is a fast-growing start-up that strives to break up the way people find and buy their next used car. They do this by explicitly focusing on vehicle, dealer, and service quality.

Backed by major automotive players, such as Volkswagen, heycar aims to become a leader in their space by being user-centric and investing in applying cutting-edge technologies. After the launch in two countries, heycar wanted to continue its expansion in Europe, specifically in Spain, since it is one of the biggest markets with high potential for used cars sales.

The Challenge

To support these expansion efforts, heycar started looking for a translation partner to localize the core of their Content and SEO Strategy—car reviews originally written for an English (United Kingdom) audience into Spanish (Spain).

The Solution

Optimational designed a language strategy with a custom workflow that included the creation of an API integration to heycar’s CMS for continuous localization, Spanish market research, subject-matter experts, localization, and website formatting.

As soon as the partnership began, Optimational’s and heycar’s Engineering and Product teams started working on developing the API integration, which would allow optimizing efforts and facilitating the workflow of heycar’s marketing team.

And with an initial request to translate 100 car reviews from English to Spanish, in around 3 months Optimational successfully localized all content, meeting all the requested deadlines.

Optimational made sure that the whole process was simple and as customized as possible to meet heycar’s needs.

The Results

As a result, all heycar’s car reviews are actively positioned in Google’s SERP, generating over 170 000 impressions so far, and the number of keywords organically positioned for is continuously growing.

Optimational’s customized language strategy helped the heycar team scale and internationalise through a stable and smooth process, which allowed heycar’s content team to speed up the content production process and start bringing first organic traffic to their website.
